Chair
Carrie Sandstedt (B.A. Environmental Studies, UC Santa Barbara)

   Currently: Vice-president of the Board Directors for the Shakespeare Company and Northern Nevada Director of SEIU Local 1107 improving health care delivery systems. Ms. Sandstedt worked at the Sierra Club where she successfully worked to support the passage of two bills in Congress to protect over 1 million acres of Wilderness in Nevada. (2000 - 2004) Ms. Sandstedt served as state Director for America Votes during the 2004 Presidential Election, and chaired a coalition of 14 local and national organizations working to increase effectiveness in electoral politics through greater collaboration and communication. Prior to that Ms Sandstedt served in the Peace Corps as a Rural Community Development Volunteer in Togo, West Africa. She founded a "Girls Club" to address STD and HIV/AIDS education, family planning, and childcare issues and assisted in training sessions on environmental protection. (1996 - 1998)

Carla M. Komich (Masters, International Affairs, Elliott School at George Washington University )

   Is currently a Democracy Officer with the US Agency International Development where she has: Served on the Elections and Political Processes Team in USAID/DCHA focused on improving development assistance to political parties (October 2004 - present); Managed $2.5 million a year Trafficking in Persons Fund for Africa and $7.5 million a year Anti-corruption Initiative and served as a program analyst with primary responsibility for strategic planning, monitoring, and budgeting for the division; and tracking strategies, and trends in democracy and governance in Africa (November 2001-October 2004)

   Ms. Komich also served as a Program Analyst for the International Child labor Program at the U.S. Department of Labor, with a focus on trafficking in persons and Africa (August 2000- November 2001).

   Ms. Komich was a Teaching Assistant in Economics, for Women in International Leadership and Power program at The George Washington University (1999-2000).Prior to that Ms. Komich was an Environmental Protection Volunteer, Peace Corps Togo, West Africa, where she worked with AEP's Director, Mike Nolan.
