The AEP aims to reduce the illiteracy rate in rural Togo by offering literacy classes to children and adults in the spring and fall semesters when the farming workload is less.

Coordinating with local primary and secondary schools the Project supports small classes of 20 students through hiring qualified teachers so that everyone will get personal attention.

The AEP is increasing the number of sustainable farms in northern Togo.

Using the tested and successful method of linking "Model Farmers" with farmers who show an interest in learning new Agricultural techniques. This has shown to be an incredibly effective technique for teaching. The Project sends it" "facilitators" out to the field and they organize "3 + 3 classes" with 10 to 15 students with a Model farmer who shows them his or her overall farm philosophy and then they discuss more specific ideas as the classes evolve. (Please see the "3 + 3 Class" technique).

The Project aims to establish a raised level of consciousness in the collective mind of rural peoples through basic hygiene and AIDS education. Using our "Model Family - Model Village" standard.

This technique works with actual families that practice proper hygiene and temporarily employ families to help facilitate discussion about their diet, infant care, hygiene, and AIDS prevention. Please see our "3 + 3 Class" technique.
